Google’s After Hours at Grace Hopper 2019

Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) of Women in Computing is the world's largest gathering of women technologists. 2019 marked 15 years of Google’s support of GHC and it was the largest yet with 25,000 attendees! At the conference, Google hosted the After Hours celebration, a night filled with mingling, music, and a sneak peek at some of our latest technology. The event welcomed a record-number (2,300) of industry professionals and external attendees. The evening reception featured nine product-area tech demos and partnerships (YouTube Music, Nest, Women Techmakers, Jacquard, Material Design, Google Food Ordering, Accessibility Design by TQUX, Dance Like, and Cloud) and music by twin 13 year-old DJS, Amira & Kayla.

Goal:

Build out visual art and design materials for the Google After Hours celebration that will create and encourage a vibrant environment for attendees to network, learn and develop. Create visual elements that are cohesive with the event’s theme of “All things good,” good friends, good food, good tech, good music, and good times. Design assets that create a fun and interactive space.

Accolades

“Congrats to the team behind Code Jam, Google's longest-running coding competition, which wrapped its 16th season last week in San Francisco. The team welcomed 25 finalists from 16 countries who battled their way through months of online rounds to earn a spot at the event. This year saw a record-breaking 74,000 registrants (up 18% from 2018), ~1,800 hires from our 2018 program to date and ~4M impressions of #CodeJam on social. The event was streamed live on YouTube, and if you fast-forward to the last ten minutes, you can witness Gennady Korotkevich's record-breaking, sixth-consecutive win.”
