Google’s After Hours at Grace Hopper 2018

Women Techmakers, along with Google, hosted an exclusive event at Houston’s Silver Street Studios for 2,000 conference attendees of the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. The art gallery was transformed into the “MOTA: Museum of Technical Art,” where guests were immersed in activations that combined Google technology and art. The event featured installations and demos from the Internet of Things, Daydream, Youtube, Experiments with Google, and Research and Machine Intelligence teams.

Goal:

Build out visual art and design materials for the Google After Hours celebration that will create and encourage a vibrant environment for attendees to network, learn and develop. Create visual elements that are cohesive with the event’s theme of “All things good,” good friends, good food, good tech, good music, and good times. Design assets that create a fun and interactive space.

Accolades

“Every year this team surpasses expectations and the bar we set the year before. From our ever-growing (and always crowded!) booth to our high-touch, magical events, to the hundreds of onsite interviews, the core team continues to amaze me. I am so proud of, and thankful for, the amazing TOPs Googlers who had a hand in the planning and execution of #GHC18. Through their efforts we made our leaders, fellow Characters, and attendees proud of the Google brand and our efforts in supporting the women in tech community.

As many of you know, it takes multiple TOPs Googlers to execute all that we do surrounding GHC. I especially want to thank the following Programs friends on the GHC Core Team for their months of hard work and dedication:

Alberto Reyes, Alyssa Watts, Ariel Bruce, Blaine Bilal, Brian Hirashiki, Britt Deyan, Caitlin Merrell, Chris Trinh, Denise Ching, Elise Armitage, Jaqui Herman, Jordan Curry, Julia Delorenzo, Julia Silva, Kate Nicolai, Kellie Nunokawa, Kristen Goulet, Kristin Sills, Lara Tishler, Lilian Argueta, Marisa Diaz, Mary Streetzel, Matt Howard, Meron Tamrat, Morgan Lynch, Nick Hammes, Patrick Pryor, Ruchi Asava, Sarah Abel, Shea Bocchino, Sheree Haggan, Tanisha Hospedale, Zach Harris”

— Kyle Ewing, Director, Talent Operations

“We just wanted to send a note to acknowledge how incredibly grateful we are to be working alongside Lara on GHC! She is going above and beyond. This event would truly not be happening without her and all of her graphic design brilliance.

Lara - thank you for all of your hard work, willingness to step in on any and all designs, and doing it all with a smile. The event is going to be so beautiful because of you.

We appreciate you so much!”

— Britt & Meron, Event Specialists

“Lara, it's not surprising to hear you're killing it. I CANNNNOT wait to see pics of all your efforts when they're brought to life in Houston! Feel free to share any teasers with me now, though! ;) Congrats... you're almost through your first GHC!”
